It's been a year since Spirit Aerosystems broke ground on a facility in Kinston's Global Transpark.
The company says construction of the 500,000-square-foot facility is on track and it’s on budget, too.
Spirit Aerosystems will make fuselage structures and other parts for the Airbus passenger jet. Rick Davis, site operations director, says surprisingly there haven't been any hiccups in the project.
"Quite frankly it's gone very smooth and that's because of the quality of the contractors that we have on site," Davis said Wednesday.
Production should begin during the third quarter of 2010. They'll start with 250 employees then grow to about 700.
Spirit will begin hiring in early 2010. If you'd like to apply, go to www.spiritaero.com.
