The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Greenville is celebrating 10 years today.
In honor of the anniversary, Greenville Mayor Pat Dunn signed a proclamation that designates today as Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Greenville Day. The branch is part of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. It's a non-profit organization organization with it's main warehouse is in Raleigh, NC and branch locations in Durham, Greenville, Southern Pines, and Wilmington.
Guests for today's ceremony will include the Honorable James B. Hunt, Jr., former Governor of North Carolina; Bob Eaves, First Gentleman of North Carolina, and Pat Dunn, Mayor of Greenville. They'll come together during a "Down East Barbeque” at the warehouse on Ninth Street.
The Greenville Branch has distributed 55 million pounds of food to those at risk of hunger in eastern NC since it opened in 1999.
Today's event will celebrate the daily restoration of lives that the organization provides to those in need and thank the people instrumental in opening the warehouse in 1999.
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Greenville serves Carteret, Craven, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Duplin, Edgecombe and Wilson counties.
