A career in the military means our men and women in uniform make sacrifices each and every day.
The same is true for their families.
But in this Nine On Your Side Community Builders report -- one company is working to help military spouses launch their own careers, even as they move all over the world.
Convergys' sprawling facility in Jacksonville features customer service call centers, and the company says it works hard to find military family members to staff them.
It even allows some of them work from home or from whatever part of the world they happen to be.
“The chaos that comes with being a military spouse … sometimes there's uncertainty,” said Lori Anne Davis, a Marine wife who is also the director of operations for Convergys’ Jacksonville site. “So what I do as a military spouse is try to make sure I have a good network of folks around me, who act as family.
“I have definitely been provided that through my Convergys experience as well.”
Convergys employs 460 people in Jacksonville and Davis estimate about 90 percent of them have ties to the military.
