RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr has $4.3 million available to spend on his re-election bid this year.
The Republican lawmaker's campaign reported Monday that it had raised $1.2 million in the last quarter of 2009.
Among Democrats seeking to challenge Burr, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall's campaign reported having more than $200,000 cash on hand while a spokesman for former state Sen. Cal Cunningham has previously reported having $300,000 available. Durham attorney Kenneth Lewis reported having $116,000 on hand at the end of the year.
Burr faces his first Senate re-election in November. Before that, the Democrats will compete in the state's May primary.
