A soldier stationed at Fort Bragg is in custody for two alleged burglaries and an alleged sexual assault that occurred in December 2009.
Spc. Aaron M. Pernell, an indirect fire infantryman assigned to 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, has been charged for the alleged burglaries and the alleged sexual assault in the Ste. Mere Eglise neighborhood.
Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command said the suspect was apprehended as a result of cooperative investigative work between U.S. Army CID and local police.
U.S. Army CID Special Agents are working closely with local law enforcement officials on the case.
22-year-old Pernell, a native of Tulsa, Okla., entered the Army in March 2006 and completed initial entry training at Fort Benning, Ga. In July 2006 he was assigned to 1-325 AIR.
