A charter school in Kinston wants a quarter of a million dollars from the Lenoir County School Board.

Kinston Charter Academy says the school board has withheld 50-thousand dollars every year for the past six years.

A recent decision by a state Court of Appeals requires local school distrits to share it's funding with charter schools on a per-student basis.

The judge ruled that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District failed to pay one charter school nearly 1.3 million dollars in funding.

The Lenoir County School Board did not immediately return our call today.
