If you don't know by now, the famous Puxsutawney Groundhog did see his shadow early Tuesday morning, which means six more weeks of winter.
Here in the east, students will be shadowing other people's jobs as part of a national Groundhog Day event.
About 40 students from local high schools are scheduled to shadow Marine Corps. Air station Cherry Point personnel during a typical work day today.
The students are participating in "National Groundhog Job Shadow Day" which provides students across the country a firsthand look at real-world work environments and how the skills learned in school are applied in the workplace.
In partnership with Craven and Pamlico County schools, Cherry Point will be providing job shadowing opportunities to students from New Bern, Havelock and Pamlico High Schools.
