It's been almost 6 months since a baby's toes were chewed off by a pit bull in Onslow County.

And the couple who police say is responsible for putting the child in danger are expected in court today.

Tremayne Spillman and Robbie Jenkins are scheduled to appear in Onslow County Superior Court later this afternoon.

They are both facing child abuse charges.

The couple says they left the baby on the coach while they slept and a pit bull puppy they were watching for a friend escaped from it's pen and bit the baby's toes.

The dog was put to sleep and the baby survived.
