There was a lot of scouts honor in eastern Carolina as they came out on Saturday to tackle hunger in the state.
WNCT worked with the Boy Scouts of the East Carolina Council for a food drive that wrapped up Saturday.
Scouts picked up food on doorsteps from homes where they left door hangers calling for donations earlier in the week.
They got a late start leaving the door hangers because of last weekend's winter storm.
Assistant Den Leader Lori Wacker says it didn't hurt when it came time to collect the food.
"I think we did well and the kids are always excited to collect the cans from the doorsteps, they get really excited," Wacker said.
About 10 to 12 boys helped collect the food.
The donations go to local food pantries.
