Beaufort Police say they've nabbed a man responsible for a series of car break-ins.
It happened on Sunday.
Authorities haved charged 28 year old Jeffrey Allen Johson a.k.a. "Ghost" of Beaufort with 5 counts of felonious breaking into motor vehicles, 4 counts of misdemeanor larceny, and 1 count of felonious larceny.
They made the arrest following complaints that vehicles were broken into the previous Sunday morning during church services at Queen Street Baptist Church. Authorities conducted surveillance and identified Johnson looking into the vehicles. When officers stopped Johnson and asked him to produce id, they found a Sam's Club Card and a Social Security card of one of the car break-in victims.
Johnson later confessed to 5 car break-ins and led officers to his residence at Carteret Court Apartments where they recovered a laptop computer, a camera, cell phones, and other assorted electronic equipment valued at approx. $4,500.00.
He's now under a $15,000 secure bond.
