Dry Weather Allows Rivers to Fall, Flood Warnings to Expire

Given the recent wet pattern and river trends, the National Weather Service has issued River Flood Warnings for the Neuse, Tar, and others.

Recent River Flood Warnings have expired for the Tar River at Tarboro and Greenville, the Contentnea Creek near Hookerton, and the Northeast Cape Fear River near Chinquapin. Though the rivers are still swollen, recent dry days have allowed them to fall below official flood stages.

As I file this report on Friday at 8am, the Neuse River at Kinston is expected to officially fall below flood stage (14 feet) by this weekend.

Lowland flooding will likely to continue along the Roanoke River in Martin County, but impacts will be minimal.
