The Navy is digging deeper into health problems associated with contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.
The Department of the Navy and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease registry or ATSDR, signed an agreement to conduct a full range of scientific studies on the contaminated water.
Under the agreement, the Navy will fully fund five separate studies. The studies will provide accurate information on past exposures.
Since 1991, the Navy and ATSDR have worked together to determine the extent of the contamination, and whether adverse health effects may have resulted from it.
So far, the Navy has provided the ATSDR with more than $14 million for research.
