A new program celebrated it's kickoff at East Carolina University on Wednesday.
The program is called Campus Kitchen and it's the first of it's kind in the UNC system and aims to provide hunger relief here in Pitt County.
It's all made possible through student volunteers and a joint effort between East Carolina and volunteer organizations like the Ronald McDonald House.
"It's a new organization here where we are going take surplus food from the dinning hall and other places in the community and make well balanced nutritious meals and bring them to people in the community," said Kelly Pippin, a leadership team member.
ECU will be joining a network of 20 other colleges and universities that participate in the program.
