It was an early morning for some at Ron Ayer's Motor Sports. Participants arrived as early as 8 am for their First Annual Chili Cook-off and Raffle.
The contest aims to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Those in attendance also had the chance to buy raffle tickets to win a custom chopper from the Allen Pearson Foundation.
Allen Pearson was a deputy sheriff killed during a shootout back in 2009.
"Today we had 7 contestants come out and cook chili. We had 17 gallons of chili. All of it got eaten and we raised $665 for the Ronald McDonald House," said Jimmy Stallings of Ron Ayers.
"We're out here today at Ron Ayers Motor Sports, their helping us out with selling some tickets for this motorcycle we are giving away. We're selling 4,000 tickets, for $25 a piece, to give this $30,000 custom chopper away in October at our annual softball tournament," said Ryan Dawson, Vice President of the Allen Pearson Foundation.
Proceeds from the raffle will be given back to emergency service departments in honor of Allen Pearson.
