A new book is causing a lot of talk in the nation's capital.
Comments privately made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have republicans publically calling for his resignation.
In "Game Change" a book about the 2008 presidential campaign, the democrat describes President Obama as an appealing candidate because he's "light skinned" and has "no negro dialect."
Senator Reid apologized for the remarks but republicans see a double standard.
"The democrats feel that they can say these things and apologize when it come from the mouths of their own. But if it comes from anyone else, it's racism," said GOP chairman, Michael Steele on “Fox News Sunday.”
The revelation is bad timing for Reid, who is in the middle of tough health care reform negotiations, and faces a difficult re-election bid. His comments are just one of the book's bombshells.
"Game Change" written by political reporters from New York and Time magazines contradicts Sarah Palin's take on the campaign. The authors report Senator McCain's aides became so-disillusioned with Palin they planned to shrink the Vice President's duties if they had won.
The book also details President-Elect Obama's pursuit of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State with Clinton saying in a phone call she was concerned her husband would be a problem.
Elizabeth Edwards uses the word "hick" to describe her husband, and President Obama isn't left untouched. He asks campaign staff, "how many times is Biden going to say something stupid" after one of the Vice President's notorious gaffes.
