An area church in the east is asking it's congregation to do their part to help people suffering in Haiti.
The Faith Assembly of God Church in Winterville is one of dozens of churches in the area who took time from their Sunday morning services to take up offerings and special donations for the victims in Haiti.
Pastor Raymond Hoggard says they have a somewhat more personal connection to the disaster.
Their denomination has missionaries in the area who are still trying to help where they can.
"When I see stories like here, even this past week, where we were already on the ground, our missionaries are already there bringing help to those people, that we have food that is stored in warehouses that's already there because we were already doing missions work, that excites me and I’m glad to be a part of that," Hoggard said.
10 percent of all money collected in their church goes to a mission’s fund.
