Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations will take place all across the east today.
In Greenville, students at East Carolina University will participate in the 2010 MLK challenge.
The 7th annual event is organized by ECU's Volunteer and Service-Learning Center.
Students are joined with non-profit groups, to help volunteer events across the east.
This year, students will be putting up a fence at C.M. Eppes Middle School, working with the humane society of Eastern Carolina, and preparing care packages for U.S. troops overseas.
A candlelight vigil, march, and tribute organized by Alpha Phi Alpha will also be held tonight.
The vigil begins at the top of College Hill, starting at 5:30 p.m.
A march and speech will follow the vigil.
