WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is honoring the Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service to others by serving meals to the needy.
Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia visited a social services organization a short motorcade ride from the White House on Monday, where they served lunch and chatted up clients.
It was the first of several activities by Obama in observance of the federal holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. Later Monday, Obama was to discuss the civil rights movement with a group of black elders and their grandchildren and speak at a King Day concert at the Kennedy Center.
