Part of King’s theme was to volunteer and people around the nation take time to do just that today. These ECU students spent time at the Humane Society helping out with the animals. Exercising the dogs, taking them for walks around the neighborhood, while others kept busy in the cleaning the cat cages.

"I just wanted to volunteer and give back on a day where a gentleman did so much for our nation and our world and helping change some things and helping out the little animals out here. I figured I'd come out here when I'm not doing anything and help out a little bit," said Sierra Perry, ECU junior.

Students also worked on building a fence at CM Eppes Middle School and creating care packages for troops overseas.
