An ECU soccer player is recovering after being shot by her boyfriend, but no charges will be filed.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, Jessica Swanson was at her boyfriend's house in Clayton.
William Hamilton was cleaning his handgun and didn't realize there was a bullet in the chamber.
The gun fired, passing the bullet through Hamilton's hand and into Swanson's stomach.
Official's say Hamilton does have a permit for the gun and that the shooting was an accident.
Swanson is listed in stable condition.
