People across the country and the world are doing what they can to provide some hope for Haiti.
In eastern Carolina on Saturday, that meant playing some hoops for Haiti.
The South Greenville Gym kicked off a six-hour marathon of basketball Saturday afternoon to raise money for the relief effort.
Fourteen teams will play when it's all said and done.
It started with children's teams and will wrap up with the adults on the court.
Jamal Blount works for Greenville Recreation and organized the event.
Blount says it's about more than just raising money.
"I would love to raise a thousand, but I mean it's not all about just how much money we raise, it's the awareness and people coming together to promote unity and helping other people out that need it," Blount said.
The basketball marathon will go until 8:00 at the gym on Howell Street.
