Washington Wants State Money For Park Upgrade

GREENVILLE, N.C - A local park is getting a $400,000 update and a large part of the money could come from a state grant. It's Havens Garden Park in Washington and it needs work. The last time Havens Gardens was renovated was about 20 years ago.

The city of  Washington is planning to come up with $25,000 out of its pocket to put it in a better position to get the state grant money. That money comes from the $3.5 million the state took in for selling fishing licenses. Last year Beaufort County ranked third in the state in the number of fishing licenses sold. A decision on the grant money could be made within the next six months.
