GREENVILLE, N.C. - A milestone for a program designed to help low income moms have healthy babies.
Lt. Governor Walter Dalton was on had to help the Nurse - Family Partnership in Pitt County celebrate its one year anniversary.
It pairs nurses with mothers to focus on their health and the health of their babies.
The word is, 90 percent of the mothers in the program have had healthy births.
"A first time mother that's very young often times is very scared, very confused, and very fearful. This program gives them directions, gives them a support person to help them through that tough time," said Walter Dalton, Lt. Governor of North Carolina.
The partnership is in 10 counties and hopes to go statewide in the future.
