COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Democrat Dwight Drake is dropping out of the South Carolina governor's race.
The Columbia attorney and lobbyist announced his withdrawal Friday, citing his difficulty in raising money.
Drake says while he's leaving the race, he's still committed to improving the state. Drake says he clearly can't raise the resources necessary to be competitive.
Charleston lawyer Mullins McLeod left the Democratic race two weeks ago.
Drake's departure leaves Sens. Vincent Sheheen of Camden and Robert Ford of Charleston, and state Education Superintendent Jim Rex vying for the Democratic nomination in the June primary.
Republicans seeking their party's nomination are U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, state Rep. Nikki Haley, and Attorney General Henry McMaster.
