It's an event where it's OK to let out your inner-kid. The Carolina Coastal Railroaders hosted their 15th Annual Train Show in New Bern. Model train fans say this is just what they do.
"A bunch of old kids enjoying doing what we do," said Joe Halley, model train fan.
With over 1200 in attendance and even more expected on Sunday, it's safe to say that this train show has got plenty to go around.
"We have 10 operating layouts and we also bring in venders from around the state that sell railroad equipment, trains and tracks. Things you need to run a home railroad or club railroad," said Dave Finn, President of Carolina Coastal Railroaders.
Vendor Don Jennings talked about his first experience with model trains.
"I love model trains; I have two older brothers and one of them was very much into model trains. He’s the one that got me into it and I've kind of picked up a bit from there by myself," said Jennings.
Charles Alford of the Eastern Carolina Railroaders says age is irrelevant when it comes to model trains.
"It's just a wonderful hobby and you can see from all the people and all the action going on today, it's a great thing to get into. We still continue to play with our trains as old as we get," said Alford.
You can still catch the railroad show tomorrow from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are $6 and children younger than 12-years-old get in free.
