CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Firefighters in North Carolina's largest city say they've controlled a fire at an apartment complex after rescuing at least six people.
Multiple media outlets reported the fire started at Charlotte Woods Apartments about 3 a.m. Tuesday.
At least 75 firefighters were called to help with the blaze on the south side of the city.
Firefighters used chain saws to cut through the roof and broke windows to release smoke and heat from the complex, which had more than 50 units.
Crews have rescued at least six people. At least one person was taken to the hospital but the injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
