RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina judge has sided with state Medicaid regulators in a dispute over efforts to cut spending for personal care services for people living at home.
Wake County Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens says an administrative law judge didn't have jurisdiction to decide if the state can review in-home care for more than 30,000 patients.
That review could cut some patient services by half. Stephens' order overturns the other judge's decision to block the state from reviewing the cases.
Stephens didn't immediately sign an order at Monday's hearing. A state official and personal care services industry group confirmed Tuesday the judge's oral ruling from the bench.
The Association for Home and Hospice Care of North Carolina plans to appeal to try to prevent the review.
