Hi, I'm Storm Team 9 Meteorologist Gannon Medwick with your FORECAST FOR EASTERN NC: Between now and this weekend, a slow-moving storm system will wobble from the Mid-Mississippi Valley to the Mid-Atlantic Coast. This system will share a variety of rain chances with eastern North Carolina.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FORECAST: Expect continued mostly cloudy skies with a risk of spotty showers. Rain amounts will generally stay less than 0.10". Temperatures will not drop below 50 degrees for most locations.

THURSDAY FORECAST: Skies will stay mostly cloudy and though I don't expect a front-to-back washout, widespread showers are likely to keep eastern North Carolina on the damp side through the day. Rain amounts will generally stay under 0.50", but if and where downpours form, locally higher amounts of rain will be possible. In most locations, temperatures will crest in the middle 60s.

FRIDAY FORECAST: Expect a balmy spring-feeling day with partly cloudy skies with a chance of a leftover shower or even a strong thunderstorm. Temperatures will break into the lower and mid 70s inland (60s coast).

WEEKEND OVERVIEW: Computer forecast models have been suggesting a widespread round of showers and thunderstorms could track through the Channel 9 viewing area Friday night and / or first thing Saturday morning. I have pushed my forecast rain chance for this period to 60% to account for this potential, but given the complexity of said slow-moving storm system, I may need to adjust that forecast. For the remainder of Saturday, a spotty shower or thundershower is possible. For now, I don't expect a total washout Saturday. Most spots will have a Saturday afternoon high in the 65 to 70 zone. Sunday will feature a slight cool-down with partly cloudy skies and a minimal chance of a passing shower.

Early next week, cool and dry conditions are likely. Check the attached 7-Day Forecast or click the video forecast for full details!
