GREENVILLE, N.C. - After days of staying tight lipped, police are finally speaking out about the Kathy Taft homicide investigation.
Raleigh Police Chief Harry Dolan met with the media today and didn't offer much, but did say they are working dIligently to get some answers about what happened to Taft.
He said they are not ruling out a random act of violence and reminded the public to secure their homes and to stay vigilant about their safety.
Chief Dolan said they have to be very sensitive as to what they release so they don't hurt detective's ability to solve the crime.
Taft was found Saturday morning severely beaten in the home of her boyfriend in Raleigh.
She died from her injuries Tuesday.
It was Taft's sister that found her and made the 911 call.
An exact timeline of the crime is still unclear.
The 911 calls and search warrants have been sealed by a judge.
Chief Dolan asked the media and public to respect the judge's decision for the integrity of the investigation and for the Taft family.
He did assure the public they would continue to work tirelessly until this case is solved and promised to release more details as soon as he could.
A public viewing for Kathy Taft is scheduled for Friday night at Wilkerson Funeral Home, in Greenville.
That's from six until eight.
The memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenville.
