CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina-based Marines are honoring six service members killed in Afghanistan.
The 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, will hold a memorial service at Camp Lejeune on Friday to honor the five Marines and one sailor.
The Marines spent seven months battling Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan. The Camp Lejeune unit deployed last year as part of a surge of forces to the central Asian country.
