Students, Parents Protest Suspension of Softball Coach

The girls softball coach at Grifton Elementary School is suspended pending and investigation by Pitt County Schools.

Spokesperson Heather Mayo could not go into details about the incident because it is against policy to discuss personnel matters. However, she did say the investigation is the result of an incident Monday that Mayo says calls into question his responsibilities as coach of the team.

Mayo says the school system is willing to discuss the matter with parents if the coach signs a release form.
