The Lyceum Series Committee at Elizabeth City State University presents Maria Muldaur and her red hot Bluesiana Band at 4 p.m. on March 21 at the R.L. Vaughan Center.
Maria Muldaur’s career spans over 40 years with a list of recordings that reflect folk, jug band, blues, jazz, gospel, pop and more. She’s performed as a solo artist, part of a duo and with assorted bands. Some fans’ earliest recollection of her music was the 70’s hit, “Midnight at the Oasis” but her list playlist expanded over the next three decades. Whether recording feminine power tunes, playful love melodies, or hearty blues, Muldaur sang until she won fans of all ages. Her discography includes titles such as “Yes We Can,” “Naughty, Bawdy & Blue,” “Sweet Lovin’ Ol’ Soul,” “Richland Woman Blues,” “I’m a Woman” and more. She and the band will bring a string of soulful favorites to Elizabeth City that has entertained fans across the country. Band members include Chris Burns, Paul Olguin, David Tucker and Michael "Mighty Mike" Schermer. The admission fee for the general public, university faculty and staff is $10 but $5 for youths under age 12 and ECSU students with a university ID.
