Greenville, N.C. - The Pitt County Board of Education passed a resolution Monday night, to honor Kathy Taft’s years of service.
The board adopted the resolution to remember and commend Taft for a lifetime of commitment to the children of our state.
Taft had served on the Pitt County Board of Education for six years beginning in 1990, and since then has been deeply involved in school volunteer and administrative work. Board members say Taft is someone who will truly be missed.
"She was just a strong advocate for children, a good friend to everyone who served,” said Mary Grace Bright, Chairperson, Pitt Co. BOE. “She always had an ear and was willing to listen if you had a concern or had a problem and it's a tremendous blow to lose her. We will miss her a lot."
A moment of silence was also held to remember Kathy Taft.
Taft died last Tuesday, after she was brutally beaten in a Raleigh home owned by her boyfriend last weekend. As of now, no arrests have been made in Taft’s murder.
