WASHINGTON (AP) - While President Barack Obama is confident about the passage of health care legislation, one GOP opponent says he's sounding less confident about stopping it.
Speaking of the rank-and-file Democrats, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint says they would have to be "remarkable people" not to fall under the kind of pressure they'll be getting.
That pressure isn't coming from the Democratic leadership alone. The National Right to Life Committee, which opposes abortions, wrote to lawmakers saying this would be a "career-defining pro-abortion vote."
Officials at the Service Employees International Union are threatening to withdraw support from Democrats who vote against the bill if it loses.
