Saint Patricks' Day isn't just for the Irish.
But Brian Meagher (Mar) is the real deal. This grandson of Irish immigrants has been marching in the New York City Parade for 50 years.
Meagher is the longest serving piper of the Emerald Society's Pipes and Drums. Behind the kilts and the pipes are current and retired New York City police officers.
The first St. Patrick's Day Parade held in New York City was 249 years ago, and back then it was a small group of Irish immigrants. Today, nearly 200 thousand people march in this parade.
The National Guard's 69th Infantry has been leading the way since the 1800's. The ``Fighting 69th,'' started as an all Irish Brigade during the Civil War.
People of all ages were in the crowd ....
Even ones too small to clear the barricades.
