RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Police say they want to test clothing worn by the North Carolina man exonerated of the murder of a prostitute for the victim's DNA as part of their plans to reopen the case.
Raleigh police Chief Harry Dolan says in a statement issued on Wednesday that police want to examine all the evidence using the latest science and technology, including the clothing worn by Greg Taylor.
Taylor served more than 16 years in prison before a three-judge panel declared him innocent last month of the 1991 beating death of Jacquetta Thomas. He says he was angry about the request to test his clothes for Thomas' DNA but agreed to allow it to prove his innocence once and for all.
Dolan says police are not disputing Taylor's innocence.
