Raleigh, N.C. - Raleigh police are stepping up their efforts to find a murderer.
Police are conducting a traffic checkpoint in hopes of gathering new information in the death of State Board of Education member Kathy Taft who is from Greenville. The checkpoint is near the home where Taft was found beaten almost two weeks ago. She died March 9th, four days after the attack.
“We cannot rule out that it's a random act,” said Police Chief Harry Dolan. “And you should know that if I had further information about a suspect that I was looking for; if I had a sketch, if I had any information I would have already provided it to you.”
News of the distribution of the flyer has some neighbors hopeful.
“Anything that they can do to help figure out what's going on is a good thing,” said neighbor Emily Debusk. “They've been diligent so far in being here to protect the neighborhood so I think their intentions are in the right place.”
The home where Taft was murdered still remains a sealed crime scene today, complete with police tape and cruisers limiting access to the home.
Investigators say they hope distributing the flyer will help gather information from those who regularly travel the area at those times.
