Greenville, N.C. - So how is your bracket doing as we head to the final four? With all the upsets we've had you might wish you were doing better, but businesses say they are cashing in on March Madness.
March Madness is underway and if you don't have a bracket, odds are you know someone who does.
"We had a lot of people running in with their brackets in their hands, just kind of checking scores and running back out to work, it was pretty funny," said Linus Martinez.
Linus Martinez owns Professor O'cools in Greenville. His business, like others in the east, is hoping to make up some lost revenue with March Madness.
"Yeah, we had a pretty good crowd, of course people stayed longer because they wanted to stay and watch the game," said Martinez.
Business owners say they worry that high-definitely television and home entertainment centers will keep people in their easy chair instead of in the booths.
Waiter Melissa Woessner says she expects more customers, but good weather could also be a problem.
"Ever since March Madness started it's been a little busier, but with the weather outside people are going out to the beach and stuff,” said Woessner.
So to counter act HDTV and great weather, many businesses are holding their own bracket tournaments to get people to come out.
Some people came out just to have a good time.
"March Madness is great out here, everyone needs to come out and have a good time."
"We're here for a family dinner; just to have fun on a Friday night."
"Just a good time to be out, not really into March Madness, I'm a Yankee fan, I'm sorry but I'm waiting for the Yankees to play, but either way we're just out here to have a good time."
By the time the final four comes around, local business hope to have their cash registers ringing, as well.
