NAGS HEAD, N.C. - Hurricane Earl is creating the most buzz along the Outer Banks.
Yesterday was very nice, sunny, and a slight breeze. Today the winds have picked up, the surf has picked up and many of the visitors have moved out.
Dare County ordered a mandatory evacuation for all visitors this morning.
The beach is noticeably different today and the people who are venturing out are mainly just watching the weather.
Inland, businesses are bracing for the storm.
As you drive up and down Highway 158, you see a lot of people out with drills and plywood boarding up their windows.
Some businesses stayed open after they hunkered down. Others, left personal messages for Earl. One even has a timeline of the hurricanes they've seen come through here.
The closer this storm gets, the fewer places that are staying open.
Everyone is bracing for the worst, but hoping Earl stays off the coast.
