Coast Guard ends search for missing swimmer

COROLLA, N.C. - The Coast Guard says they've ended the search for a missing 38-year-old man in the vicinity of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew located the man around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Currituck Fire Department was called to help in the recovery.

The man was reported missing after falling off his bodyboard around 12:15 this afternoon.  He never resurfaced.

Multiple agencies as well as a Coast Guard HH-60T helicopter aircrew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. responded to the scene.

Additionally, a Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet rescue boatcrew also joined the search.
