JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The remains of 30 American forces killed in Afghanistan are now back on American soil.
President Obama paid a visit to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to meet with families of the fallen and pay his last respects.
They were killed Saturday when enemy forces shot down their helicopter.
One of the men is from here in the east.
Navy Seal Chris Campbell of Jacksonville died in the crash. He was 36-years-old and graduated from White Oak High School.
Campbell's family was at Dover Air Force Base today.
Campbell and 29 other service members were racing to help a team of Army Rangers near Kabul when their helicopter was shot down.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, being called the single biggest loss of life for U.S. forces since the war began nearly a decade ago.
20 of the 30 men killed Saturday were members of Seal Team Six, the same group that killed Osama Bin Laden.
The DOD has not released the names of those service members killed. However, family members are coming forward with pictures of their loved ones all across the country.
Navy Seal Chris Campbell told family members in his will that if he were killed in the line of duty, he would want donations to be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior project.
