MCAS CHERRY POINT, N.C. (WNCT) - Families across the east are decorating their homes for the holidays and the Marine Corps is no different.
Today retired and active duty service members got help with their holiday decor.
The Trees for Troops program teamed up with Fed Ex to bring Christmas trees to 450 marines and their families at Cherry Point.
Trees were handed out on a first come-first serve basis.
All marines needed was their military ID. They didn't even have to leave their cars.
There were closet to 100 trees that went unclaimed.
Those trees will be left at cherry point to be picked up by people that couldnt come during the scheduled hours.
Trees for troops began in 2005.
Since then, the foundation has provided 84,000 Christmas trees.
This year they aim to reach 100,000.
