NEWPORT, N.C. - For most of us, post-it notes are small, handy reminders of things we need to do. But a group of sixth graders in Newport have come up with a new use for the little yellow peices of sticky paper.
Students at Broad Creek Middle School are expressing themselves through sticky notes.
Their sticky note collage is part of a social studies project that was inspired by CNN's Student News.
The students saw companies in France having a post it note war to see who could come up with the most intricate pictures and wanted to make their own.
It took a little more than a month and a half for seven Broad Creek Students to create their collage.
They were only allowed to work on the project before school, during lunch and after school.
All Their hard work paid off. CNN's Student News wants the seven students to create an opening sequence for an upcoming episode.
Social Studies teacher Ryan Koczot says the project excited the entire Broad Creek student body.
It took 678 post-it notes to make the collage. Students say it will stay up until the principal makes them take it down.
