TEACHEY, NC (WNCT) - Sheriff Blake Wallace says deputies arrested 20-year old Jahbriel Grimes Sunday after Nicholas Bennerman was shot at the Duff Creek Community Center. Grimes is in the Duplin County jail, charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Wallace says this week’s triple-shooting in Greenevers that left 18-year-old Trevor Carr dead does not appear to be connected even though Bennerman is the nephew of Elijah Bennerman who was involved in Wednesday’s shooting.

He says Elijah Bennerman and Jabontae Hill are still in the hospital. Deputies plan on filing charges very soon.
