Law enforcement wants you to keep your Christmas loot safe

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) -- Police want to keep you and your Christmas gifts safe after the holidays.

Here are some tips:

Police suggest hiding any boxes for big-ticket items you may have gotten on Christmas. You can do this by tearing up the box so people on the street can't see what you got.

Record the serial numbers for any new electronic equipment you received, like a computer or MP3 player. That way, if any of it gets stolen police will have an easier time trying to track it down.
