MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - Good news for boat lovers along the Crystal Coast. Morehead City dedicated a new six slip public boat launch facility along the Newport River on Radio Island.
The new facility will make it easy for people to get boats in and out of the water and comes after years of hard work.
“In recent years a lot of water access has been lost in North Carolina and really across the country, development along the coast has made property values higher then could be justified to be used as water access,” said Randy Martin, Morehead City Manager.
In addition to the boat launch facility a new fishing pier has been built to give people access to the Newport River.
Still to come at the site are rest room facilities and a store.
