Richlands Car Wreck Claims Life of Former Student

RICHLANDS, N.C. - A former Richlands High School Student has died one week after a horrific car crash in Onslow County.

According to friends on Facebook, 19 year old Josh Petteway died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after undergoing numerous heart surgerys following the crash.

We are learning more tonight about horrific car accident in Onslow County that sent four Richlands High School students to the hospital.

State Troopers said 17-year-old Charles Robinson was driving this Honda Civic when he pulled out in front of a box truck off of Holly Shelter Road in Jacksonville. Robinson was flown to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he is in intensive care tonight.

Two of the passengers, 21-year-old Joshua Pettaway and 19-year-old Cody Lanham were airlifted to New Hanover Regional for serious injuries. One other passenger was treated at the scene.

Charges have not been filed, pending the outcome of the investigation

RICHLANDS, N.C. - Four Richlands High School students and another teenager are recovering this afternoon after a serious car crash in Onslow County Monday afternoon.

Doctor Barry Collins with Onslow County Schools says one student was airlifted to Pitt Memorial and two of them were taken to New Hanover Regional with serious injuries, and the other two were taken to Onslow Memorial.
