JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - One school in the east attempted a world record today to show their support for the military. It was yellow, as far as the eye could see.
Yellow was everywhere at Carolina Forest Elementary.
School staff and students wore yellow shirts in observance of military family month, attempting to set a world record by creating the largest human ribbon.
Carolina Forest sent out emails to parents, contacted surrounding schools and military bases nearby to try to get the 2400 people they needed to break the record.
Half of the students at Carolina Forest are children of military parents, so the effort definitely hit close to home for them.
Unfortunately, the school came up short in their world record attempt. They needed 2400 people to break the record, but they only had a little over 1200.
Principal Gross says they plan to try again next year.
