ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (AP) - History buffs will have the opportunity to unearth clues to the 1901 disappearance and death of a 19-year-old from Elizabeth City when they participate in the city's Historic Ghost Walk.

Participants Friday or Saturday will visit historic homes and sites associated with the life and death of Nell Cropsey. She was last seen Nov. 20, 1901, when she disappeared from her Elizabeth City home.

At each stop, costumed actors will piece together the chain of events leading to her disappearance, the discovery of her body in the Pasquotank River and the trial of Jim Wilcox, her beau who was the last person to see her.

Ghost Walk tickets sales are good for both nights and benefit Elizabeth City Historic Neighborhood Association programs.
