SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) – Greene County Middle School won $10,000 to replace damaged music equipment in the “Glee Give a Note Competition.”
Band Director Joanne McGowen tells us the school’s chorus won the competition by getting the most votes in an online contest. A video of the Greene Co. Middle School band was made by Chorus Director Angela Tyer and posted online for people to vote on.
The school was among several homes, businesses and other buildings damaged during the April 16 tornadoes. A lot of the band’s music equipment was also damaged.

SNOW HILL, N.C. - Greene County Middle School is trying to replace damaged music equipment by competing for a grant from "The Glee Foundation."
The school was damaged as well as homes and businesses in the area when tornadoes swept through the region back in April.
So students in the chorus entered "The Glee Give A Note Competition" to win money for music education.
And their chance to win all comes down to your votes on the internet.
The school's Band Director Joanne McGowan joined us this morning to tell us more about their run for the top prize.
